The New Year proved once again the power and the magic of fireworks. All around the world people flogged to see stunning fireworks displays no matter the weather! As a reward for their efforts, firework lovers were able to enjoy spectacular displays with amazing effects and colours.
It’s a bit of a cliché to say it but it seems firework displays just keep getting better each year! If you’re struggling to get energetic to get back to work in these dull, dark winter nights, here are Firework Crazy’s favourite fireworks displays from New Year 2018. These will brighten your day in an instant!
Sydney New Year’s Eve Fireworks
Australia is one of the first countries to leap into the New Year. It’s no wonder Sydney is known for its fireworks display and the city pulled all the tricks again this year. The explosions were big and there were lots of firework action taking place all across the harbour. In total, viewers witnessed eight tonnes of fireworks exploding into 100,000 pyrotechnic effects – a rainbow tribute celebrated the country’s historic same-sex marriage vote and the 40th anniversary of Mardi Gras taking place later this year.
Hogwarts Castle at Universal Studios Hollywood
If you love Harry Potter, then you’re going to love the fireworks display over Hogwarts Castle at Universal Studios Hollywood. The display is full of colour and the falling leaves over the castle look dramatic. The music played is a beautiful collection of film favourites.
Taipei Fireworks
Taipei’s fireworks display is unique in that it’s centred on the Taipei 101 building. The show is a great testament to how you can build a fireworks show in different ways, using music, lasers and architectural elements to your advantage. The falling fireworks from the side of the building look amazing with the big explosions adding to the drama. While the display lasted longer than ever before, the number of fireworks was actually down from last year. However, the lights and the fireworks definitely created a beautiful show.
New Year’s Eve Fireworks at Circus Maximus, Rome
Rome has plenty of fireworks displays happening on New Year’s Eve. One of the most popular and stunning of these shows takes place at Circus Maximus. Thousands gather to see the show, which proved to be a showstopper this year. Plenty of rockets, colourful showers and glittery goodness.
London New Year’s Eve Fireworks
Finally, we have to mention the amazing show on the banks of the River Thames. The iconic display even had Big Ben chime in even though it’s undergoing refurbishment. The 12-minute extravaganza had music from the likes of Annie Lennox and Aretha Franklin, with stunning fiery explosions filling the night sky. It’s worth a re-watch even if you caught in on the night.
As stunning as the above videos are, they might also make you wonder when you get to experience a night like this again. Luckily, you don’t have to wait a year to enjoy fireworks. There’s plenty happening at Firework Crazy – Chinese New Year is around the corner and Valentine’s Day is another big night for fireworks.
