One of the world’s most competitive fireworks festivals is currently taking place in Vietnam. Da Nang International Fireworks Festival is a competition every team wants to win – so, what is it about and can you still get involved?
Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2018
While the competition kick-started on April 29, it will run all the way to June 30. In fact, there has only been one show so far, which was the opening ceremony. Therefore, there is still plenty of time to get involved with the competitive action.
This year’s competition is entitled “The Legend of Bridges”. The idea is for the teams to create a fireworks display around the theme. This theme is all about celebrating the connections the festival has created and the ways it is bringing people together from all around the world.
The dates and the competing teams
The festival will have five major display nights, with eight international teams competing for the top prize. As mentioned, the opening ceremony has already taken place, with two teams having shown what they are capable off. On April, a Vietnamese team called Team Da Nang and a Polish team called Team Surex Firma Rodzinna created wonderful displays. Here’s the performance by the Polish team:
The remaining performances will take place on the following days, with these fantastic teams performing:
- 26th May
- Team Atlas PyroVision from the US
- Tamaya Kitahara Fireworks Co. from France
- 2nd June
- Team Martarello S.R.L from Italy
- Team Vulcan from Hong Kong
- 9th June
- Team Göteborgs FyrverkeriFabrik from Sweden
- Team Luso Pirotecnia from Portugal
Finally, the closing ceremony will have a big fireworks extravaganza and the winners will be announced on 30th June!
How to get the best view of the show?
The festival takes place in a Vietnamese city Da Nang. It’s a beautiful port city in Vietnam and the third largest city in the country. Fitting to this year’s theme, the city is divided into two by Han River and connected with beautiful bridges.
The fireworks display and the festivities will occur on Tran Hung Dao, which is the main street on the eastern side of the river. The best views will be on the main festival street and Bach Dang Street on the western side of the River. You could also get a fantastic view from one of the city’s huge skyscrapers – including Novotel Da Nang.
As with all good fireworks festivals, the Da Nang International Fireworks festival will have plenty to do aside from the fireworks show. There will be a major Street Festival and International Food Festival coinciding with the event.
You can find out more about the fireworks festival from the official website.
Check the displays online afterwards
If you won’t have time to pack your packs and travel to Vietnam this summer, you should at least check the performances on YouTube.
Da Nang International Fireworks festival is on its 10th edition so it should, hopefully, happen next year too. So, don’t despair if you can’t make it there now – just plan a trip next year!
