Buying & UK Firework Law
Are Fireworks Legal in the UK?
Yes, fireworks are legal in the UK, but there are strict laws regarding their sale and use. At Firework Crazy, every product we stock meets or exceeds current UK safety legislation.
Can I Buy Fireworks Any Time of the Year?
Yes. While supermarkets are restricted to seasonal dates (like Guy Fawkes), Firework Crazy holds a specialised all-year license. Our showroom and online store are open January through December.
Do I Need a Licence to Buy or Use Fireworks?
You do not need a licence to buy Category F1, F2 OR F3 fireworks (garden and display fireworks). However, Category 4 fireworks are restricted to licensed professionals only.
Can I Buy Fireworks in Bulk?
Yes, as long as they are category 1-3 and you are over 18, you can buy fireworks in bulk. At Firework Crazy, we offer wholesale rates and bulk-buy discounts for retailers, licensed shops, and large-scale event planners across the UK.
Planning Your Display
What fireworks are best for small gardens?
Yes, fireworks are legal in the UK, but there are strict laws regarding their sale and use. At Firework Crazy, every product we stock meets or exceeds current UK safety legislation.
Can I use fireworks in the rain?
Most fireworks will still work in light rain as long as they are kept dry before lighting. Heavy rain will impact their performance.
To protect your fireworks, cover them with plastic bags or cling film before setting up. Moisture will dampen the fuse and make it difficult for the firework to ignite properly.
What is the safety distance for a display?
It depends on the category:
- Category 2 (garden fireworks): 8 metres minimum
- Category 3 (display fireworks): 25 metres minimum
Always follow the safety distance indicated on the label.
Do you sell "Low-Noise" fireworks?
Yes. We specialise in low-noise pyrotechnics designed specifically for residential areas, pet owners, and noise-sensitive venues.
Pro Tips & Safety
Can I fire fireworks by remote control?
Yes. We stock professional-grade wireless firing systems that allow you to ignite your display from a safe distance, improving both safety and timing.
What should I do if a firework doesn't go off (a "dud")?
Never approach a dud immediately. Wait at least 20 minutes, then submerge it in a bucket of water for 24 hours before safe disposal.
How do I store fireworks safely at home?
Store them in a cool, dry place away from heat sources or flammable materials. Keep them in their original packaging and in a spark-proof container (like a wooden box) if storing for an extended period.
Where can I legally set off my fireworks?
You can legally use fireworks on your own private property. Using them in public places (streets, parks, beaches) is illegal without prior permission from the local council.
