Christmas and New Year is out of the way, which means it’s time to focus on everyone excitedly planning their weddings in 2016. Are we really going to talk about wedding fireworks in early February? You’re damn right we are! Even now the phone is ringing almost non-stop with people looking for information about wedding fireworks, or wanting to make a purchase or a booking for this summer.
As we redesigned and relaunched our sister Wedding Fireworks website in summer 2015 – big thanks to Hutch Web Design for that! – we’re in a better position than ever before to make sure our customers can get the wedding fireworks display to cap off their big day in style.
We understand that you might be weighing up your options when it comes to fireworks at your wedding. As we’re now in February, if you’re getting married in summer the chances are that most of the planning is already taken care of. Whether you’re a late planner, have some extra money to spend on fireworks, or have always planned for fireworks but just not gotten around to organizing what it is you actually want, you still have options at your disposal.
The choices you generally have when it comes to wedding fireworks are to buy fireworks and hold your own display, to buy fireworks but get the venue to hold the display, get the venue to take care of everything, and to hire a professional fireworks company to take care of it all. The choice is yours, but to help you we’ve taken a look at some of the things you ought to consider.
Buy Fireworks and Hold Your Own Display
This is a great option as you don’t need to necessarily spend a lot of money on fireworks. If you already have fireworks stored from Bonfire Night or the festive season you might even decide to put these to use during your wedding celebrations. Many wedding venues are happy to let you hold your own fireworks display too, and you might not even have to pay an additional charge. Just ensure you have checked with the venue they have space, and ensure you know where you’ll hold it, and you should be fine.
The only real issue presented here is that you will need someone to fire the display. You probably don’t want to do it – it’s your wedding day after all! Try asking a friend or family member, but remember that will not be able to consume any alcohol during the day before hosting the display. If you’re having an afternoon display or plan on firing before the party fully begins, you might find it easier to find a volunteer.
Buy Fireworks and Ask the Venue to Fire the Display
Providing your own fireworks might save money, however you will probably end up having to pay the venue to take care of the display for you. This is still a worthwhile consideration if you don’t have anyone to fire the display, although you might be at the mercy of the experience of the venue when it comes to hosting wedding fireworks displays. In the run up to your wedding you’ll be super busy, so you probably don’t want to be dealing with seemingly trivial things such as taking your fireworks to the venue and making sure they know what they’re doing!
Ask the Venue to Take Care of Everything
As the popularity of fireworks continues to soar, more and more wedding venues are offering fireworks displays in house to ensure they cater for every possible request. The one danger with an in house display is that it might turn out like a house DJ or house band that you’re told you have to use, and that you get a one size fits all display that isn’t too great.
Check the venue’s testimonials and specifically look for those that mention fireworks displays. It is also worth checking what an in house display means. Does the venue have someone there who holds the displays? Do they have any experience or qualifications when it comes to holding displays? Does the venue actually outsource its displays to a wedding fireworks company? In the latter instance you might be able to save money following your questioning by going straight to the fireworks company and cutting out the middle man.
Hire a Professional Fireworks Company
You will find this option surprisingly cost effective, and most fireworks companies – ourselves included – will liaise direct with your wedding venue to take care of everything. Once we’ve spoken to you and we know what you’re looking to spend and have any specific requests – including whether you want your fireworks set to music or want a grand finale with a particular type of firework – we’ll do the rest. You can get on with planning your wedding and not have to worry about your fireworks display.
This option is probably the most hassle free one, and guarantees you’ll get a great quality wedding fireworks display held by the most qualified and experienced team available.
Choosing an Option for Your Wedding Fireworks
There’s no right or wrong answer to this one. Obviously we have our own bias but it ultimately comes down to what you’re looking for. There is nothing to stop you exploring the possibilities around all of these options before you make a decision, and as you do your homework and speak to various parties along the way it will soon become clear which choice is the best for you.
