Using LED's in Your Fireworks Display

Over £40m was spent on home and professional firework displays in the UK during just 2013 alone. No longer confined to just a few nights in November and the New Year, fireworks are regularly used across the world in huge sporting events, celebrations, festivals and parties. In fact, 20 million of us attend either a private or public firework displays each November, estimates the British Pyrotechnists Association, marking the Guy Fawkes gunpowder plot of 1605. While fireworks still have the power to mesmerise us, a new breed of firework is looking to transform the traditional firework display: LED lighting.

Light up your display with LED’s

LEDs or light-emitting diodes provide powerful, reliable and captivating lighting in a variety of colours that can be used for all sorts of purposes. They may not contribute any extra bangs and whistles to a display, but if you use them correctly, they will certainly add an extra dimension to your show.

Set the mood with timers

To seamlessly incorporate LEDs into a fireworks display, it is possible to use a number of different type of LEDs with timers or by just switching them on and off yourself. You could think about starting your display with a few soft mood lights flickering on and off, before switching to some LED candles lighting up one after the other, sending you into your display finale of fairy lights.

Put your fireworks to music

Using something as simple as audio interface technology, you can incorporate music with fireworks to take your display to the next level. Using music as an audio backdrop to your display is very simple to do and incredibly effective. You can even take the next step and choreograph the fireworks to your chosen music using digital computerised firing equipment to guarantee accurate split-second firing to the music.

LED Laser show

Already commonly used at nightclubs and concerts, LED lasers are an easy way to create an exciting light show. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, using fully customisable software or pre-programmed display patterns. LED lasers can create an entrancing show to rival many firework displays.

300 LED covered drones

You could take inspiration for your next display from The Winter Olympics held in Pyeongchang. The event came to an incredible and show-stopping finish with not just a firework display but with a remarkable 300 drones entirely covered in LED lights. The LED covered drones lit up the South Korean sky with the Olympic rings, figures of athletes and shapes and patterns of the white tiger mascot, Soohorang. The in-built LED lights created over four billion colour combinations.
When it comes to using LEDs in your next firework display, really the only limit is your imagination. So be creative, experiment and above all have fun and enjoy a wonderful and unique display of light and colour.
