Top Tips for a Successful Surprise Party

Sometimes organising a surprise party can create a memorable experience and is usually something that will remain vivid for a long time. Surprise parties are especially great as a birthday party or even a celebration for new job.  In fact, we’d advocate having surprise parties as soon as you have a suitable excuse! In order to ensure your surprise party will be a success you need to keep a few things in mind. Here are some top tips to help you hold a great party.

Make Sure It Won’t End Up In Tears

If you are holding a surprise party for someone else it is very important to make sure the person is up for a surprise. Some people might not take the surprise very well – some people just hate surprises – and you need to ensure you know the person well enough to know it will be a pleasant surprise for them.
People might get shocked at first but if you know the person will quickly come around to it your party will be a success.

Focus On the Cover Story

The key to a successful surprise party is all about the cover up story. If you aren’t going to let the guests in on your secret you need to ensure the reason for the gathering is big enough to get people to attend. This is mainly something you need to consider if you want to have a surprise wedding or announce your new job as a surprise.
If you are having a secret party for someone else, you should let the guests know it is a surprise party and make sure they don’t let the guest of honour know what is going on.  You’d be amazed how often people give the game away because they didn’t know they weren’t supposed to tell! Give them some tips to hide they are coming to the party on your invitation so they can keep the secret hidden.

You’ll Need An Accomplice

Don’t plan doing it all on your own. You will need to have a few friends to help you with the planning and organising the party. This will ensure you can go through all the details with another person without being afraid of letting them in on something they shouldn’t know.
It will also be very useful in ensuring they can help you in keeping it all a secret from the guest of honour and keep them busy when you are setting up the party.
One important thing to remember here is that you shouldn’t use social media, even the private messaging functions available on social networks.  It is too easy to send a message to the wrong person or discuss something on a wall or timeline instead of privately, and you lose the whole surprise element immediately!

Make It Memorable

Of course, you need to make sure your party is great and this will mean making sure you have enough food and entertainment. Don’t just rely on it being a surprise party to be enough to make it a success, that’s another trap you need to avoid at all costs. Get something different for the party by having a fireworks display, for example. You can use our website here at Fireworks Crazy to buy fireworks for any occasion throughout the year.
If you want a professional display, we can even manage and set up your fireworks display, and even get in touch with the venue to organise it for you, and there’s no chance of us letting slip your party secret!
A surprise party will be better if you make sure all the food and entertainment is something that the guest of honour truly enjoys.

Make Sure They Are Free

Ensure your guest of honour doesn’t have any other plans for the day. In fact, Punch Bowl suggests using your accomplice to set a ‘fake activity’ for the day to ensure your guest of honour won’t make any other plans for the day and ensure that your surprise will be a success.
