Three Alternatives to Confetti When Leaving Your Wedding Venue

The walk back down the aisle and outside of the wedding venue right after exchanging your vows is a beautiful moment. It’s the first walk you make as a married couple and your wedding guests will line around you to cheer this magical occasion; often throwing confetti or rose petals to celebrate the event.
What if you don’t want to throw confetti?
If you are going with a fireworks themed wedding, you have three good alternatives to confetti – each adding something different to the moment.
In this next part of our series looking at how you can create a beautiful fireworks themed wedding, we’ll provide you with three alternatives to confetti when leaving your wedding venue.

Sparklers

sparklers

An obvious and fun confetti alternative in a fireworks themed wedding would naturally be sparklers. You can purchase sparklers in different shapes and sizes. Organise them in a lovely metal bucket or vase and hand out to guests as they leave the wedding venue. Have people help the guests to light up the sparklers right as you are about to walk out of the wedding venue. It’ll create a sparkling and fun look, even if you aren’t doing it in the darkness of night.
Since sparklers won’t run forever, this option needs a bit of planning and guidance. So, make sure your wedding party has enough people on hand to help with the lighting and timing of this beautiful confetti alternative.

Twirling Ribbons

A decorative alternative to confetti and sparklers would be to create beautiful twirling ribbons. It’s a simple DIY project that will essentially only require you to have ribbons in your chosen colours and a wooden stick to attach the ribbons to. You can tie the relatively long ribbons (around 50cm) in the sticks and then hand these colourful ‘wands’ to guests outside the church or the wedding venue. When you make the walk, guests can wave the ribbons around creating a colourful and fun scene.
Afterwards, you can use the twirling ribbons as wedding décor at the reception venue! It’s definitely something the kids will love to play with.

Glow Sticks

If you are getting married in the evening and you have a bit of darkness surrounding you, opting for glow sticks will work perfectly. You can have the glow sticks in different colours and ask the guests to wave them around as you walk from the wedding venue.
This looks great in wedding photos but you do need to either have a dark wedding venue or do it outside in the evening. Otherwise, the glow sticks won’t look as great. Unlike sparklers, this alternative definitely requires the darkness to look spectacular.
With these three confetti alternatives, you’re not going to cause a lot of cleaning up afterwards, either, while they add just the right kind of sparkle to your wedding and continue your fireworks inspired wedding theme beautifully.
