Santa Tecla Fiesta 2016

It’s festival time in Spain again, and once more the festivities take place in the city of Tarragona. Following on from June’s Tarragona International Fireworks Competition, the Santa Tecla Fiesta takes place from September 15th to the 24th.
Santa Tecla Fiesta has been declared a Festival of National Interest by both the Spanish Government and the Catalonian Government, and attracts huge crowds made up of the local population as well as visitors both to the city as well as the wider area. If you’re enjoying a holiday in the Costa Brava region or a city break in Barcelona, it’s easy to get to Tarragona to enjoy the festivities of Santa Tecla Fiesta.

What is Santa Tecla Fiesta?

The festival dates back almost a thousand years, with its earliest origins tracing back as far as 1091.
Since then it has evolved into the festival it is today, which is a unique celebration of the city and its history.
Santa Tecla Fiesta features a variety of parades, including the popular exhibition of castelllers (human castles), and the Correfoc (fire running), which ends the festival. Running through the city for ten straight days, when you visit Tarragona it is obvious there is something special going on thanks to the musical sounds, colours, and fragrances that arrest your senses as soon as you arrive.
Of course, we’re writing about Santa Tecla Fiesta, which means there are fireworks too!
Whether it’s parades featuring mythological beasts and creatures, medieval themes, or “spoken dances” that you want to see, you’re guaranteed a good time at Santa Tecla Fiesta.
If you’re around the north eastern Spanish coast from September 15th to the 24th, make sure you take the time to head to Tarragona and enjoy the festivities, and be sure to send us your best pictures and videos of the event via our Facebook page.

If You Can’t Make it to Santa Tecla Fiesta

If you’re not going to be in Spain, then the final day of the festival is also the date of our ever popular Fireworks Review Night. Get yourself down to Tufnell Hall in Little Waltham, enjoy an evening of spectacular fireworks and exclusive review night discounts!
Remember too that our Super Summer Sale continues in our showroom and online if you’re looking for fireworks for your own party.
