Fireworks in the News 2016 Part 3

Our Fireworks in the News articles are among our most popular here on the Firework Crazy blog. After providing year-end articles for the last couple of years, this year we decided to put together four articles throughout the year, enabling us to bring you a wider variety of content than ever before.
As always, looking at fireworks in the news means we look at everything from brilliant displays to the sheer stupidity of some people when it comes to the use of fireworks.
You can check out the two earlier reviews from 2016 at the links below. We also covered Fourth of July in its own post, which again you can find below, so we won’t include it here.

What fireworks related news has been seen around the world between early July and today?

Bastille Day Paris Fireworks Fire

Fireworks are always a huge part of Bastille Day in France. This year as well as the fireworks being in the news for the reasons they should have been, they were also there due to a fireworks truck catching fire near the Eiffel Tower.
There were fears it was started deliberately and linked to the terrorist attack that occurred in Nice that same evening, but French police confirmed this was not the case and even had to plead with social media users not to spread such rumours.

Arena CSKA Opens in Moscow

Russian football team CSKA Moscow had been waiting since 2007 for their new stadium to be completed. When it finally opened in early September 2016, they chose to mark the occasion in the best possible manner: with fireworks!
Sadly we’ve been unable to find any videos of the occasion but there are some great photographs featured here.

Friday Night Fireworks in Bournemouth

Bournemouth’s popular Friday Night Fireworks displays returned for the summer of 2016, providing five great evenings of entertainment for local residents and tourists.
There are some fantastic pictures here and a great video below.

Another Idiot with Fireworks

There’s always at least one every couple of months. We hope there won’t be too much of an upward trend in cases such as the one we’re about to explore during the run up to Bonfire Night, but we’re aware that might be in vain.
Back in July a teenager was convicted of putting lit fireworks into people’s pockets and throwing bangers. His punishment? A whopping fine of £20!
Definitely one for the realms of “you couldn’t make it up.” How long until it’s reported this person repeated the trick – or has done something far worse – on the back of his ridiculously lenient punishment?
You can read further details here.
