The Edinburgh Fringe is one of the most popular summer festivals in the whole of the UK. It’s a wonderful celebration of comedy and art. And like any great festival, it always ends up with a wonderful fireworks display!
This year’s festivities came to a close on August 26th. As always, the final day of the Fringe brought a massive concert and fireworks display at Edinburgh Castle. The event was again sponsored by Virgin Money, with performances from the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and Edinburgh-born mezzo-soprano Catriona Morison.
The fireworks display consisted of more than 400,000 fireworks that were launched while the orchestra played. It was an absolute joy to watch! Whilst many enjoy the Edinburgh Fringe fireworks from one of the four viewing areas set up for the show, lots of people also gathered across the city to get a glimpse of the fireworks – because they are so bold and big, you can see them from all over Edinburgh!
Here are some videos filmed on the big night:
Lighting the Sky with Colours
This grand finale video by Colin Robinson shows just what a wonderful show of colour this year’s fireworks display was. We’re loving the small purple fireworks that paint the whole sky purple after which you get bursts of red, blue, yellow and green. The colours and the scope of the fireworks are beautifully shown in this particular video.
Edinburgh Fringe Fireworks from Afar
This video by Jim Ramsey highlights the massive scale of the fireworks show from afar. It’s filmed further away; giving you a great view of just how much of the night sky is taken over by the fireworks. The darkness of the night and the city combined with the powerful, colourful fireworks look amazing. The falling golden fireworks are so beautiful and big – you can’t appreciate the scale of the fireworks without watching this video!
Experience the Whole Show
Finally, we love the video by Dave S. It shows the whole show combined with the sound of the music – it almost feels like we were all there enjoying the show. The timing of the music and the fireworks is great and the light show at the castle just adds to the mystery of the display!
If you love fireworks as much as we do at Firework Crazy, then you have to travel to Edinburgh to experience the fireworks at the end of the Edinburgh Fringe. Luckily, the festival is annual so you could have a go next year in case you missed the show this time around.
