Celebrating 4th of July in the UK

Although Independence Day, usually referred to as the 4th of July holiday, marks the American declaration of independence in 1776 and is primarily celebrated, naturally, across the United States, due to the millions of Americans living around the world – not to mention the presence of American brands in most of the world’s countries – it is today very much a global celebration.
Whether you’re American yourself living in the United Kingdom, or simply want to enjoy the festivities at your nearest American restaurant – and let’s face it most UK and other international brands these days will be getting involved aswell – you have plenty of options for celebrating 4th of July. The date falling on a Monday as it does in 2016 means there are loads of events going on over the weekend, and we’d wager there might be a few sore heads and sickies on the Monday or even on the Tuesday of next week.
Unofficial bank holiday anyone?
Due to our proximity to London, we’re going to look at some of the major events taking place in the capital. Remember to share any events taking place near you with us via our Facebook page; we’ll put the best photos into a post next week!

Independence All Dayer in Stoke Newington

Grand Ole Stokey is actually an Independence Two Dayer, taking place at Mascara Bar in Stoke Newington this Saturday and Sunday. This event looks like it’s becoming an annual thing – last year was the inaugural event and it’s back for 2016 by popular demand, with 12 hours of live music for revellers to enjoy.
The party doesn’t just take place in Mascara Bar, with street performances and a barbecue. There’s even talk of pony rides being offered for children! Who says you need the beach?!
You might want to think about getting yourself an outfit for the Dolly Parton & Kenny Rogers dressing up competition, too.

All Star Lanes’ U.S. Menu

All-Star Bowling Alley (Orangeburg SC) front entrance 1

With four bowling alleys in London and another in Manchester, there’s a great opportunity to get involved with the 4th of July activities at All Star Lanes. They’re offering a U.S. themed menu from 1st – 4th July, which includes a selection of juicy burgers and a trio of red white and blue shots. What better accompaniment to a game of bowling with your mates?

Independence Day Party at Benjamin Franklin’s House

Benjamin Franklin House

If you’re hoping to have a quiet weekend you can still enjoy a celebration on 4th of July itself. Benjamin Franklin House, situated in Charing Cross, is the venue for a lunchtime party where you can get a slice of cake and a glass of champagne. This is a great option; you can get involved in marking 4th of July and still ensure you’re at work for the afternoon.

Your Own Party

If you can’t get out into your nearest town, get down to the supermarket – they’ve all got great offers on various American themed food and drink ranges on top of the great summer barbecue offers that are already going on.
It isn’t too late to get organized and buy fireworks for your own party, either! Our showroom is open 10am – 5pm on Friday, Saturday, and Monday. Get yourself down to us, we’ll put the kettle on and help you choose some amazing fireworks for a home display.
Whatever you choose to do, and whether you’re an American citizen or not, have a great 4th of July weekend!
