3 Questions to Ask When Arranging Your Wedding Fireworks

We’re not sure whether the early year rush for wedding fireworks is couples panicking because they haven’t organized this element of their wedding, or whether it’s something that was deliberately left to closer to the time while things like the venue, food, and attire was taken care of first. It might even be that couples use Valentine’s Day as an excuse to try out some fireworks before making a purchase or a booking for their wedding later in the year.
If you find yourself looking to arrange a wedding fireworks display, here are 3 questions to ask yourself.

How Much Do I Want to Spend?

This is a good starting point when thinking about your wedding fireworks. There is no lower limit to what you can spend for an effective display, but you should probably look at a minimum spend of £200, even if you plan to do the display yourself. Our research has previously shown us that the majority of people would pay from £200 up to around £500 for a display, but ultimately it will depend on how this all fits in with your wedding budget.

If you’re buying fireworks to hold a display yourself then your budget will dictate how many fireworks you buy. If you plan on hiring a professional fireworks company then your spend will usually be linked to the length of display.
Once you know what you’re looking to spend on a wedding fireworks display, you can move onto the next questions.

How do I Want the Display to Happen?

Are you going to fire your display yourself, or do you have a diligent friend or a family member who doesn’t drink who will be able to light the fireworks safely at the end of the evening? Does your wedding venue have a policy on holding fireworks displays, and does it insist that someone from the venue or a fireworks professional take care of it? Are you looking at a professional fireworks company to manage the display for you anyway?

You might need to spend some extra money depending on the option you go for, but should really be thinking about the choice that will make your day easier.

What is my Venue’s Approach to Fireworks?

If you booked your wedding months ago and chose the venue without checking their policy on fireworks, make sure you do this right away. Unfortunately, if they don’t allow fireworks displays there isn’t going to be much you can do about it. Remember that any no fireworks policy might not necessarily be the venue’s fault, and that there may be restrictions around noise, particularly if you are holding your wedding party somewhere there will be other people staying, such as a country estate, or environmental reasons why fireworks aren’t permitted.
As noted above, the venue may even insist on who fires the display. Ask the question now to avoid disappointment.
If you’re in the ‘planning at the last minute’ demographic, you can always factor in fireworks policies when deciding on a particular venue.
