Team from Firework Crazy win Firework Display Competition

The Competition

Held on the 21st April 2007, each team had to fire a fireworks display consisting of only category 2 & 3 retail fireworks with a maximum budget of £500rrp, lasting between 4 and 5 minutes to music.

The Aim

To show people what can be achieved with retail fireworks with a little planning and preparation and to promote the safe set up and use of retail fireworks.

How It All Started

Several months ago we decided to put a team together for the competition, the team members where chosen and the team name selected. We then set about choosing the music and the fireworks. We chose the music first, a re-edited version of 'Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Two Tribes' and then set about selecting the fireworks to match the different tempos, time slots and moods of the music.

Once we had chosen our fireworks and used the videos on the web site to work out the rough timeline of each piece it was time to test fire and video each item. Once we had completed the test fire, worked out the fuse times and final firework times we had our final display plan complete with firing times. (available soon)

The Competition

The competition was fierce with all four teams putting on excellent fireworks displays, but the four judges (made up of some of the most respected people in the business) chose Bangers & Mash as overall winners for their impeccable timing of the fireworks and the mood created through the music.
